Relate is a South African not-for-profit social enterprise that creates social investment opportunities to change lives.
Relate aims to create opportunities at every stage of a project: The corporates who initiate projects with us receive exposure and a platform for building their brand. The causes for whom we make bracelets earn revenue through sales. The makers of our bracelets (ranging from the elderly who supplement their pensions, to refugees, to unemployed township youth) earn an income and are, where possible, upskilled to move beyond Relate. The retailers who partner to sell our bracelets benefit from positive brand associations and increased store traffic. The customers who ultimately buy and wear our bracelets can connect to causes (and to others who do) confident that their contributions are reaching those they are meant for.

Only Relate bracelets are made to our unique social enterprise model that, as we like to say, is 100% for good. Our commitment to sustainability and transparency is represented by a signature “R” bead found on every handmade Relate bracelet. This means that through every stage of manufacture and sale, opportunities have been created to change lives; also that there is utmost transparency and accountability in how funds from the sale of each bracelet have been spent. Approximately a third of the proceeds of each bracelet is donated to a cause of choice. Another third is used in creating earning opportunities and in skills and enterprise development initiatives. The final third pays for materials and running costs.
