Producers of high quality, well-designed carpet tiles based on biomimicry, while using fewer resources and generating less waste. The innovative collaboration called Net-Works™, has been created to tackle the growing problem of discarded fishing nets in some of the world’s poorest coastal communities. By establishing a community-based supply chain for discarded nets, Net-Works aims to improve the livelihood of local fishers while providing Interface with an innovative source of recycled materials for its carpet tiles.

Pioneering a model of inclusive business, Interface has partnered with the Zoological Society of London, yarn producer Aquafil, and Project Seahorse to build a closed loop around sourcing raw materials for their carpets, and get them step closer to achieving the Mission Zero promise to eliminate any negative impact the company has on the environment by 2020. Net-Works is the first step in creating a truly restorative loop in carpet tile production, cleaning up oceans and beaches while also creating financial opportunities for some of the poorest people in the world. The Net-Works program is not just about beach cleanup, though that is a vital piece. Net-Works is also helping the villagers establish new financial opportunities by providing an additional income stream as well as supporting the creation of community banking.
