Erica Charalambous is a freelance choreographer, art director and cultural activist born in Paphos, Cyprus in 1980. Her passion lies in the fusion of art and science, drama and cognitive neuro-aesthetics which plays a key role in her ongoing work, as an artist and director in the field of creative process, arts management and cultural diplomacy. Erica was part of the Pafos2017 Artistic team that won the Paphos bid, and held the position of Community Involvement and Development Officer of the ECoC – Pafos2017 for two years. Erica has collaborated with many professional dancers, choreographers and artistic directors. Most collaborations have inspired her teaching and choreographic practice which she facilitates in a non-hierarchical environment through social exchange within a group context and / or a one-on-one approach through personal performance coaching, group processes and effective communication. She finds motivation in her work by being curious, communicating creativity and practicing art in everyday life. Erica, aspires to continue her work as a multi-disciplinary artist and art manager meandering in several professional fields, while enjoying the vibrant beauty of Cyprus. Erica holds a Masters’ degree of (MA CoDE, University of Music and Performing Arts, Frankfurt). She also received and won various grants and fellowships in different Art institutions and Cultural organizations such as CND-Paris, BIDE-Barcelona, BOOM Festival- Portugal, Luxembourg ECoC-2007, Frankfurt Lab, PACT Zollverein / EXPLORATIONEN 07 Scholarship, Essen, Ruhr 2010 ECoC, Mousonturm Frankfurt, IDFrankfurt , E-Motional Bodies & Cities / Gabriela Tudor award / Museum of Contemporary Art Bucharest, Romania etc.
