The Centre is the outcome of a mixture of ideas from a number of organizations and authorities of Northern Greece, all focusing on enhancing female participation in the workforce and on eliminating factors that lead to women’s exclusion from the labour market. The Network of Women Entrepreneurs of the Ergani Centre was established in November 1999 from the first female beneficiaries of the Centre

The underlying concept of the Network of Women Entrepreneurs was that by organizing themselves in a corporate network, women entrepreneurs would benefit from the increased opportunities for cooperation, support, publicity, contact formation as well as from the connection to other related networks across the world for the exchange of experiences and best practices. Projects like enhancing the employment of unemployed women through the participation of NGOs, have as an aim to network the women among themselves, support the creation of small businesses or cooperatives, promote women production of arts, crafts and traditional products and expose them to the information on production processes and practices.
