Anakyklos is a non-for-profit organization. There are no profits, shares or dividends involved. Any surplus income of Anakyklos, after covering the running costs and expenditure to cover its activities, is used to support social and environmental projects and activities carried out by Anakyklos and/or other organizations. Anakyklos is most widely known for the 'Textile Collection and Recycling Project'. The Project is operating in all the municipalities (30) and in 125 local communities, covering the whole of Cyprus, with 415 collection banks (November 2015).  

The Project’s benefits are not limited to the protection of the environment; the deep economic and social crisis facing Cyprus, has led Anakyklos to focus on social action and solidarity by sharing the income from the Textile Collection and Recycling Project with society. This is achieved through various actions including the following:

  • After appropriate sorting, free clothing is donated to thousands of people who need them, either through the charity shops of Anakyklos, or by home delivery, in cooperation with the Social Welfare Services and charity organizations. During the period 2013 to October 2015, free clothing worth 120.000 EURO was provided from the charity shops. Free clothing to families in need was also delivered at home to numerous families all around Cyprus.
  • Textiles are collected by numerous charities and institutions and many thousands of Euros are donated to them, to be used for people in need, including provision of food by food banks, breakfast for school students and support for other community projects run by those organizations. During the period 2013 to October 2015 the contributions amounted to 100.000 EURO. The amount is expected to multiply in the next period, given the growing number of organizations joining Anakyklos’ collection campaigns. The number of partners today has reached 402.
